Using your Shrink Wrap Sleeves

Using your Shrink Wrap Sleeves

Aesthetics are so important in home winemaking, and it's often the little touches that make the greatest differences.

While many agree that there's nothing more satisfying than uncorking a bottle of your homemade wine, adding a PVC shrink wrap sleeve (or capsule) to your bottles can enrich the experience and presentation!

Thankfully, they are easy to apply with household items you certainly already have.

Microwave Method

1. Slip the shrink wrap sleeve onto a corked and filled bottle of wine or cider.
2. Find a tall coffee mug and fill it 3/4 up with tap water. Turn your bottle (with wrap on) upside down and place in coffee mug. Make sure the water covers the entire shrink wrap sleeve.
3. Remove bottle and sleeve from coffee mug and microwave for 3 minutes and 30 seconds.
4. Carefully remove from microwave and set on a level surface.
5. With the shrink wrap sleeve on the bottle, carefully turn upside down and submerge your bottle in the hot water for 3 seconds.
6. Remove and set your bottle upright. To wrap another bottle, heat again for 30 seconds or until boiling and repeat.

Stovetop Method (Faster)
1. Heat 4-5 inches of water in a pot on the stove on high heat until boiling.
2. Slip the shrink wrap sleeve onto a corked and filled bottle of wine or cider.
3. With the shrink wrap sleeve on the bottle, carefully turn upside down and submerge your bottle in the hot water for 3 seconds.
4. Remove and set your bottle upright. Repeat until all bottles are shrink-wrapped.
